Editorial Letter to the STAR Newspaper Supporting Sen. Richardson for Governor
Richardson Is Right for Delaware
I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Senator Bryant Richardson on two winning
campaigns; one campaign where he handily won by almost a 2:1 margin over his Democratic
opponent; one where he upset a beloved incumbent Democrat.
I witnessed firsthand, his decision making skills on campaign issues; his final approvals on campaign
spending; his even demeanor; his quiet humility; and yes, his dry sense of humor.
He has been in government long enough to see what needs attention and wants to make a difference.
He co-sponsored HB358 to provide funding relief of $100,000,000.00 to small businesses under the
CARES Act to address economic harm from COVID. The release date on the bill is June 26, 2020. The
bill stalled because of the COVID lock down. Two months later Governor Carney takes
action. The Democrats are proudly touting this grant launching as a wonderful benefit, AFTER
Representative Collins and Senator Richardson first generated legislature, taking credit for making the
difference. I guess when you are the majority party, that’s what you do.
I would put my money on Senator Richardson any day because in the end you govern ALL citizens of
Delaware. If he can appeal to Democrats in his Senate District 21, then his chances of winning
Independents and Conservative Democrats state wide are more favorable. Senator Richardson is a
quiet fighter and has the wisdom to know how to navigate the dealings in Dover.
